It’s always an admiring thing to see someone with an untarnished self-esteem and confidence. Fortunately, in this day and age those two things can now be bought and available to the public thanks to the magic work of plastic surgery. People make appointments with plastic surgeons for procedures such as Rhinoplasty, breast augmentation, Brazilian butt lifts, or Liposuction. These people are eager to alter and attain a better appearance without carefully considering the risks they are taking. Everyone has insecurities about their bodies and it’s their prerogative to change or enhance anything they don’t like within their physical appearance and no one can question that; your body, your choice. Conventionally, plastic surgery was once performed with fixing abnormalities of the body and reconstruction for those that got involved into serious accidents or illnesses. Nowadays, plastic surgery became a luxury since it mostly welcomes anyone who can afford it. Adults aren’t the only ones who make the decision to go under the knife. Surgery to permanently change the color of your eyes is currently illegal in the United States. It’s a new trend for wealthy Americans to travel to Africa to get an implant inserted in their eye in the color of their choosing. Reality TV star, Tameka “Tiny” Harris made news headlines when she changed her eyes from brown to light Ice gray. All procedures come with some degree of risk. This one can hinder your sight and lead to glaucoma, cataract, and corneal problems. Some would argue that the risks outweigh the gain but supporters of this surgery, like Tiny Harris, says: “They told me the procedure would be quick, like five or ten minutes in my eye. They woke me up and it was very blurry, and then it kind of just fades in. I looked in the mirror and I was like, they’re amazing,” she said with a smile. “I just wanted to do something different,” she said. “And I have the right to do that. It’s my body.” Breast implants and nose jobs are legal in this country and they have plenty of possible negative side effects. Recipients of breast implants can suffer from breast pain, changes in nipple and breast sensation, and rupture with deflation of saline-filled implants. Those are pretty serious. People who get nose jobs are opening themselves up to the possibility of bleeding, infection, hematoma, scarring at the base of the nose, swelling, and permanent nerve damange. Personally, I feel like changing eye color isn’t that big of a deal. Everyone just wants to be different. Some get tattoos. Others get unusual piercings. Some guys spend a ton of money on their cars. Pouring thousands of dollars into your car to make it faster is way more dangerous than changing your eye color. So in my opinion, I can careless about if people want t change themselves to feel better about themselves. I believe you should do whatever makes you happy.
